The famous James Bond Aston Martin DB5 sold last night at a London auction for nearly £3 million. American businessman Harry Yeaggy paid £2,912,000 ($4,608,500) for the 1964 DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger and Thunderball. The insurance industry has unveiled a new, tough frontal-crash test. The first batch of 11 luxury and near-luxury cars put to the test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety didn't fare so well--only three were rated as good or acceptable. The test rams the front corner of a car into a fixed barrier at 40 mph.
NEW figures point to an average of 200 drivers arrested per day for drink driving related offences over the past Christmas period. The data, from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), show that 6,550 drivers gave positive breath tests or refused or failed to give a test out of 191,040 drivers. The campaign ran from November 29 to January 1 across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
